Fighting Falcons Play for Redemption

Montebello, California- December 1- California Miramar University men’s basketball team will be headed to Occidental College to take on the Tigers, Saturday at 6pm.

For the Falcons (0-5), the game is personal, because the Lady Falcons were defeated by the Tigers 106-27 in their season opener. So the men are playing for school pride. Forward Christian Mora is excited about the contest. “Every day at practice we are reminded about the score and we go harder. I can’t wait for tip off.” They are going to have their hands full with the 3-0 Tigers.

Falcon coach Chris Shade is optimistic about the match up. He says, “We have learned a lot from our losses and we are finding the core of the team. We are working on lowering turnovers which contributed heavily to our losses and we are definitely more aggressive because the players are more confident.”

Shade believes playing dominant schools like East Oregon and Westminster has gotten them ready for the schools in their conference.

The Fighting Falcons are currently in their first season with hopes of building a program with local and international talent that will elevate the university to national prominence.

California Miramar University’s mission is to provide students from around the world, including United States Military personnel and veterans, with programs that enable them to acquire skills, competencies, and academic excellence that will enhance their careers and professions, enrich their personal lives, and enable them to make significant contributions to the global community.
