The Softball Team is led by Head Coach Jesse Quintero. You may call the University to schedule a meeting with Head Coach Jesse Quintero. Parents are encouraged to attend.

We would like to announce the start of softball in the fall of 2021. We are excited to announce that Coach Jesse Quintero would also add Head Softball coach to his duties at CMU. He is bringing along Assistant Coach Anthony Chavez to assist in starting the brand new program.

The coaches are looking for student-athletes to join the brand- new program and make history.

Coach Quintero is bringing along the aggressive style that he has on the baseball field to the softball field. Assistant Coach Chavez is bringing his experience and knowledge from his playing days to the softball field. The coaches are excited to finally bring a softball team and a winning attitude to CMU!

About Head Coach Jesse Quintero

Head Coach Jesse Quintero attended Jordan High School where he played baseball. He played three years on the varsity and helped lead the Panthers to two playoffs appearances. He graduated in 2007 holding the record for highest batting average in a single season. After graduating, Jesse Quintero got right into coaching. He started coaching the JV team at Long Beach Jordan. After one season coaching the JV team, he coached on the Varsity team for four years under Head Coach Marc Prager. In the summer of 2012, he started coaching a college summer team the East LA Dodgers. He coached the ELA Dodgers for 5 seasons winning multiple league titles along the way. During the summer of 2014 Coach Quintero got hired to be an assistant at Bristol University. He coached one season at Bristol leading the Bears to a 18-13-1 record.

During the spring of 2016, Coach Quintero was hired to be the head coach at California Miramar University.  He was given the tough job of starting a college program. During the spring of 2017, he led the Fighting Falcons to a second-place finish in their conference. It was a successful first season. During the summer of 2017, he coached the Rocketshots of the SDCCL were they won their league but unfortunately lost in the championship. In the spring of 2018, the Fighting Falcons finished 21-14 and again finishing second in their conference. After a strong recruiting class, the Falcons led by their Head Coach Jesse Quintero were finally ready to compete for a championship.

During the 2019 season, the Fighting Falcons won their conference. In the regionals the went 4-1 and advanced to the World Series. Unfortunately, they lost in two games. During the Covid shorted 2020 season, the Falcons were ranked in the top 15 when the season ended. In the spring of 2020, Head Coach Quintero was handed the Head Softball job at Miramar were again he is expected to have a team by the fall of 2021.

About Assistant Coach Anthony Chavez

Assistant Coach Anthony Chavez is entering his 1st season coaching with the Fighting Falcons. Assistant Coach Chavez attended East Los Angeles College where he played 2 years of baseball as a pitcher. Assistant Coach Chavez played his summer with the ELA Dodgers and Rocketshots. In the summer of 2017, Assistant Coach Chavez made the SDCLL Allstar team.

Assistant Coach Chavez transferred to California Miramar University and began playing for the baseball team. He established himself as the starting pitcher for the Fighting Falcons. In his first year at California Miramar University, he received Pitcher of the Year and King of the Hill. Assistant Coach Chavez graduated holding several pitching records at CMU.

About Pitching Coach Johnathon Francisco

Johnathon Francisco graduated from Temple City High School in 2014. After a quick pit stop at Pasadena City College, he found a home at California Miramar University in 2016. He played for the Fighting Falcons from 2016- 2020. During 2019 the season he was a part of CMU’s first Pacific Region title win and helped the team to its first World Series appearance. He got the save in the play-in game versus Stanford and won the Pacific Region Championship game.

During the 2019 summer, he played in Midwest premier developmental League the Corn Belt League located in Omaha, Nebraska. While playing for the Omaha Red Raiders, he helped them to a Corn Belt League Championship, while also being named to the CBL All-Star Game. 2021 will be his first year on the coaching staff for the Fighting Falcons.
